OFFICIAL STATEMENT CONCERNING COVID-19

In view of the current situation concerning the spread of the coronavirus, we would like to inform you about the current status of the planned events of the SAILING Champions League (SCL) 2020 season.

The health of the athletes, the spectators, the members and organizers of the participating and organizing clubs as well as the whole population have absolute priority for us.

We follow the development very closely and are in continuous exchange with all partners and official bodies.

At the present time it is not possible to make any reliable prognoses regarding the further course of the spread, its successful containment and thus the normalization of public life.

As things stand at present, we expect the season to start regularly as planned until further notice. Sailing fortunately takes place outdoors, is not considered a mass event and would be able to be carried out if the current measures were to be relaxed – and provided that the health authorities make appropriate recommendations.

At the same time, however, we are also preparing ourselves for the fact that the dynamic spread cannot be successfully contained. In this case we would postpone the start of the season, an option we are already preparing.

We will inform all parties involved promptly and in good time as soon as our assessment of the situation changes and there are any changes to the seasonal planning.

We hope that the measures taken to contain the crisis will take effect and wish all athletes, sports fans and nations that this crisis will take a positive course very soon.
