WOMEN SAILING CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, DAY 2: German teams dominate qualification in Berlin

Results after Day 2: German teams are at the top of the rankings and continue to dominate the Qualifier.

The Women’s SAILING Champions League Qualifier entered its second day.

The weather was cloudy and overcast until late afternoon, but by late afternoon the sun was shining and the wind conditions were optimal with up to 10 knots.

The German team Norddeutscher Regattaverein showed a consistently very good performance today after struggling with starting problems yesterday. The Swiss team Regattaclub Bodensee is in the middle of the overall standings, while the other Swiss teams dominate the lower end of the table.

The top 14 teams qualify for the Final in Sundby and its still all up for grabs as the top of the overall standings is fiercely contested. Exciting races were held until Flight 13, Race 2. Due to illness, the team FC St. Pauli team had to spontaneously borrow a sailor from the host Berlin Yacht Club and therefore sailed in this constellation for the first time.

At the end of the day, the team around the club Verein Seglerhaus am Wannsee came out on top again, followed by the Norddeutsche Regattaverein and the Münchener Yacht-Club, which means a German lead in the overall standings.

Tomorrow, the women competitors will have the chance to improve their positions in the overall standings before the final of the Women’s SAILING Champions League takes place in Sundby on 17th September.
