ISLA on Women's SAILING Champions League

Next week the very first Women’s SAILING Champions League finally kicks off! We talked to Nynne Desirée Ammundsen from ISLA (International Sailing League Association) about what’s so special about this brand new league format.

“From an ISLA point of view, what we see with Women’s SAILING Champions League is all that we could ever wish for. Gathering and developing a strong league concept while developing the dynamics of league sailing is the founding mission of ISLA. In addition, promoting this mission for women, an important target for ISLA, is an extra bonus. It is therefore a true pleasure to provide a platform and experience the international desire for a Women’s SAILING Champions League event.

In all the national leagues, we have experienced the power of the women’s teams, and we also saw this in Porto Cervo 2017 where the fastest boat was a women’s team of 5. The girls have the guns and the ability to push the mix and men’s team. With that level of female sailors, we thought that they should have their own league and then here we are some months later.

We look forward to welcome and host this first event.”
